BAT 1972 Suburban 4x4 70K Miles
I have nothing to do with the sale of this Suburban, but thought it could be of interesting discussion over here on the 67-72 board. I will now return back over to the 73-87 side of the house.

Awesome is right. Dang near a twin to my truck.
What's up with the antenna on the drivers side? There was a thread in the truck section on hubcaps. Many said they never seen white 4x4 caps.

Re: BAT 1972 Suburban 4x4 70K Miles
I just got back from the box home store with the Burban. As I was locking the truck up this old guy comes up and says "if you have a minute? On the internet there is a place called BAT. Bring a Trailer". I just started laughing. "Oh yeah that green 72 Suburban!" We talked for a minute about it and his neighbor's 75 454 Burban then he hopped in his Audi A8 wagon and jetted off. Funny world we live in.

Ya know they only made 879 of those in 1972, last year before the body style change

Re: BAT 1972 Suburban 4x4 70K Miles
I have to wonder how much of that low sales number was from people deciding to wait for a 4 door Burban?

Re: BAT 1972 Suburban 4x4 70K Miles
Ok, which one of you guys is the highest bidder?
I know someone on this forum wants to be the proud new owner! Will say this, if I had not just spent the last two years plus over 2/3rds of the current bid on a 1988 Suburban restore, (and $17,000.00 on a 2000 Excursion 7.3 in the last two months), it could be on it's way to VA. OK. The truth be known, my wife said "NO MORE CARS!!, Eleven cars is enough and no more until I get things done around the house". At least I know who wears the pants in the family (not me). |

Re: BAT 1972 Suburban 4x4 70K Miles
Mr. Bee, you are a very lucky man. Does Mrs. Bee have a sister?
I say, if she told you 25K, go to 30K and sleep in the Suburban (instead of the couch) for the next month! Then you can say "See honey (pardon the pun), we can even go camping in it". Only 7 hours left, |

Re: BAT 1972 Suburban 4x4 70K Miles
I agree, I am a very lucky man in many, many ways with regards to my family.. thank you!
I really, really like this one but not real keen on owning it.. burden of preservation is too great for my taste.. I simply wouldn't be able to pile the kids into it and beat on it in the desert, woods, mud, etc. for camping excursions or whatever.. even just local errands like the market, ball games, or just tooling around, I'd be a nervous wreck.. one good whack and there goes all that originality.. and I have two already [that of course would have to go if I could have scored this one] the $30k it's up to now -$5k purchase price on my running 71 K20 leaves a LOT of budget to work with.. and not sweat the small stuff driving it around anywhere I want, any way I want.. it's great rig for the right collector, hope it finds a great home, and not end up some silly foose project!

Mr. Bee,
I like how you think ;-) "it's great rig for the right collector, hope it finds a great home, and not end up some silly foose project! "" I hate when folks take a great original car/truck/trailer and hack/chop/change it into something that could have been done with any old piece of cr*p. Also into Airstream trailers and seen many a trailer gutted to never be finished then tried to be sold as "all the hard work is completed" ;-) When you ask, what happen to everything you took out, "Oh, we hauled all that junk to the trash". |
