Turn signal gunk ?

I am in the middle of wrapping up a build here on my 3/4 ton GMC 4x4. The steering wheel seem to have some slop in it so I pulled it off to find the upper bearing being completely worn out and one of the turn signal springs was snapped in half. So I ordered a new upper bearing and spring. Before I install them what is the best way to clean all the gunk out of the turn signal assembly as seen in the photo? I thought maybe Brake-Kleen or some degreaser and a rag.

Re: Turn signal gunk ?

I just finished a similar project. Cleaned with a small brush (tooth brush?) and rag with denatured alcohol. Seemed to clean it well, then finished by lubricating with white lithium grease.

Hey thanks I will give that a shot, I have some denatured alcohol and a few acid brushes.

Re: Turn signal gunk ?

Brakleen, Lectra Motive, Denatured, it's all alcohol and works well, leaves no residue. The cans make it easy to blast crud away.
