door latch function
After two years driving and trying to adjust doors, rebuilt hinges, new door latch, new weather seal -soft seal, I could not get the door to close flush. I know the 2 positions of the latch was mentioned in posts on the subject, but I was confusing it, with door handle positions, locked and unlocked.
Just wanted to give a heads up (if someone else has a similar problem), if anyone has the striker positioned as far in as possible and still can't get the door to close flush, it is probably closing in the first latch position. Just need to move the striker out a bit to allow the latch to catch to the 2nd fully latched position. See the pictures attached (sorry they are sideways) .The first two images are the incorrect striker and latch positions and improper door closing, the last two images are corrected. |
