Radio Delete Plate Clip Alternative

Has anyone come up with an alternative to the radio delete plate clips?

Unless you have a compass on your dash.

Re: Radio Delete Plate Clip Alternative

You can cut down a lower body side molding clip and use a nut and washer on the back.

I have magnets now and after awhile the plate moves, I thought about Velcro but I do like the molding clip idea. Thanks.
It must be easy to keep a steady course with that compass setup.

Looking at this picture it should be very easy to make some clips for it. Cut 2 piece of sheet metal to fit as the original's do drill small holes in the center of each one and put a small screw in it. Place it in the right spot and take some washer that will fit the radio dial holes good and nut tighten it up your done.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Rare earth magnets are very strong, I’m using them on a delete plate now and it does not move at all. If you are using plain magnets they will not hold very well.

That's probably my problem.
Did you put them behind the dash or in-between the plate and the dash? Where did you get them? Thanks again!

I agree they will hold my delete plate.
I use them to hold my licence plates on so no holes in the roll pans.
They keep my doors closed in the house and magnet fishing is a blast.

You do have to allow for windage and current drift, though. Also the Magnetic Poles are shifting.

I'm old. I have problems with the current drift, the earlier drift, the later drift. Apparently, I have problems because I just drift off. Don't even get me started on my windage problem.

As far as Command Strips, I'm married, I'm subject to enough commands.

Yes, I made some. Not that complicated, just took way too much time. The tools I needed to buy were about $50.00 and I'll never use them again!

Sorry about the image size, not sure how to adjust it.

At least they came out nice. For what they go for, maybe you should make a bunch and pay off the tool.I wouldn't mind a couple of test pieces to evaluate. Just sayin...

I would need to buy a bunch of material and another expensive tool and set up a production run in my garage. Too much work for very little income. Realistically, how much could I sell them for? And how many would actually sell? Probably not worth the time. If I still worked in the machine shop, I could run a different operation each day and knock them out over a few weeks during lunch breaks and between automatic machining operations.

Want to buy a hundred or two? No? That is what I thought. J/K

Very small market so it is not worth the cost.

I used these body molding clips on my delete plate. Just get a fender washer to cover the hole from the rear.

Could you tell me where you bought these and maybe a part number? Are they long enough to span across the plate and lock in there or did you have to modify them in any way, Thanks

Who was this question intended for? If you are asking me I bought them in the body clip section of the parts store I was working at "back in the day" when I first tried it . I think it was in the late 1990's. They are available in different sizes.
