Worked on the jimmy camper...

Finally had a little free time over the long weekend and did a little more work on the jimmy. The bumper is tweaked a little and had an extra set of hooks just lying around so...

Still has a long ways to go, but feels good to get something done on it.

That thing is so cool. Would be a great rig to take down to Speed Week at Bonneville.

Re: Worked on the jimmy camper...

I always wanted to get one of those campers for one of the three Blazers I had. I only ever saw them from CO west. A little far to drive, but was willing, but never managed to do it.

You just increased the value of the Jimmy by a big sum! Looks great! Did anyone ever tell you you have too much stuff?

Would be fun to just get out and put some miles on it! Finding all kinds of obstacles when it has sat for so long and someone else partially dis assembled it.

My wife says I have too much stuff sometimes, but she likes them too. Some days I think I should sell off a bunch and try to concentrate on 1 or 2... or 3... or.....

Re: Worked on the jimmy camper...

You'll know when that day has come. I had probably too much stuff but so what? I knew it and it made me happy. Things happened where I knew I'd never do them all and others things I like to do I wanted to do as well. Believe it or not I came to realize there is more to life than trucks. No really, turns out to be true. I'm good with the '67 and '72. They catch both ends of the spectrum in many ways. Now I do have the wants since both are pickups and there are the other configurations and other ways to do the two I have. Whoa Tim... STOP!

Ok, I'm good. Just started to slip some, that's all. Gotta head out to buy this Dana60 factory posi rear I don't need. But what I mean is there are other year trucks I like. Always wanted a '55 GMC and another Stude PU. Then there are the earlier years and BBW 60-66s.

I really am into other things like outdoor adventure sports... kayak, bike, rock climbing, snowboard/ski, surfing, hiking... I once was all about those things and don't do any enough now.

Did I mention my love of motorcycles? Just plain traveling? You don't have too much stuff if it makes you happy

Re: Worked on the jimmy camper...

Are the campers for Blazer/Jimmy's rare? I've only seen one (except TooMuchStuff's), its currently in the back of a Blazer in the weeds and I've been tempted to get a closer look to see if it was real or homemade or ask if it was for sale.

I would say pretty rare as I don't recall seeing any like mine. I have seen the slide in ones over the years. Better stop in and ask...or give me directions...

After a closer look at yours, the one I've seen may be a slide in. Hard to tell from the road. Heres a screen shot from Google Maps. Besides the K5 he's got the cool Handivan there too.

Re: Worked on the jimmy camper...

They were primarily found in the Rockie Mt states and mostly Colorado. You would see Broncos and Scouts, too. I'm not sure about companies other than All Wheel Campers. What brand is yours? I do recall seeing just one here in the '80s and I figured it was someone who moved here from CO
