Rear leaf question, why did they do this
My 67 k20 has the rear axle set back in the wheel well
I thought it may have the wrong springs on it But in shopping for new ones I find that the lighter springs Are 24" from front eye to ctr. Pin and the heavier springs are 26" to pin This truck is 7500gvw My question is why and does someone sell heavy springs that Center the axle Thanks in advance |

Re: Rear leaf question, why did they do this
Yup that's why I'm looking for a heavy set of the 24 to pin
Installed a 14bolt but was the same with the H052 Springs are 52 long 26 to pin Mounts are all riveted |

It's hard to tell from the picture but how close is your bed to the cab?

Re: Rear leaf question, why did they do this
Have the cab off right now
Nearest I can remember it's a good inch The bed seems to be squarely on the mounts Still wondering why the 2 inch difference in pin position between the 1/2ton and 3/4ton springs |

Re: Rear leaf question, why did they do this
Is the center spring pin equal distance from each spring eye?

Re: Rear leaf question, why did they do this
I agree with the person asking about bed position. Looks like it is almost touching the cab.

Re: Rear leaf question, why did they do this
you could also do this item for the fix . but as said box looks to close to cab . or its the angle the pic was taken .

Re: Rear leaf question, why did they do this
Finaly got time to get back to this and I'm afraid I trusted my memory and made a mistake
Re measured the spring pin distance and discovered my problem My current springs are 28" and should be 26" So a set of correct springs will fix things nicely Or possibly the spacers suggested by Sweetk30 Thank you all for your intrest and suggestions |

Re: Rear leaf question, why did they do this
funny you say 28" springs .
i just scored a dana 70 drw wide axle from a mid 70's gm cut-away van motor home body . it had the leafs on it and there real nice shape but there 28/28 eye to eye .

Re: Rear leaf question, why did they do this
you have 2 things...
1. you bed is off, or 2. possibly your springs are flipped generally, they have a shorter and longer side ( eye to eye), make sure they are correct and havent been changed before. |
