The Gouldenrod
So, here is my latest venture- a '72 C10 long bed. Mrs. Yankee and the little
Yanks have compared it's color to the result of a blown-out diaper, the infamous Colonel from the game Clue, as well as certain brands of mustard, hence the name "the Gouldenrod". How did I wind up with this little nugget? Back in April, I was hit head-on in my OT '94 Hooptie-Jeep, and the '56 was nowhere near ready, so I started looking for an inexpensive daily driver to use in the meantime... well, I wound up buying what turned out to be someone else's stalled project (will NOT do that again) that has been a bit of a handful. The immediate plan is to finish going through the brakes (all new lines, calipers, cylinders, etc), replace the clutch and get the 307/3 speed back in, put a tank in the back, and run new wiring. |

Re: The Gouldenrod
Thanks flashed- found it in TN. Overall, it's pretty solid, but will need cab corners, the area under the battery tray is pretty gone, and there are a few spots on the bedsides that are "holy"

Re: The Gouldenrod
flashed- every once in a while, I get over to TN- was very happy to find the "mustard wonder"
I teach middle school band (Mrs. Yankee and I teach at the same school), help out with the high school marching band, help lead our church worship team, and help ferry our three "little yanks" wherever they need to go, so getting time to work on the truck comes whenever I can steal it, so I will update as I can! Found a squarebody sway bar a few weeks back at a local honey hole- cleaned it and the hardware up, removed the frame rivets, opened the holes for some grade 8 7/16" bolts and mounted it this evening (will try to add pics tomorrow). We have off this Friday and Monday, so I'm hoping to knock out a number of things. Will be at Brad54's swap meet at the drag strip in Commerce this Saturday- if you're local- stop by! |

Re: The Gouldenrod
Not sure if I will make the swap meet this time , I was a vendor last time . If you are on Facebook look up C10ClubGa , we have an event coming up in Cleveland thats always fun . If you venture to Youtube , check out Whitlock Garage and you will see Robbie and me and others playing with trucks here at the Truck Farm in Canton or rescueing trucks here and there .

Re: The Gouldenrod
Got some work done this weekend:
- removed the bed with the help of my two oldest Yanks and Mrs. Yankee (she oversaw the removal/flipping of the bed to make sure no one got harmed ) - started prepping the rear of the frame for the new tank - disassembled the driveshaft and ordered new u joints and center carrier - picked up new door latches- mine were badly rusted (need to get fuzzies/etc to keep the wet out) |
