Why do 81-87 trucks with tan interiors have brown dash pads?
I don't know if there is an official answer to this, but it is strange how every other interior color has a matching dash pad, but tan never did. This has bugged me for years. If someone knows an actual reason behind this, I'd like to know. Thanks.

I was always told, they avoided light colored dash pads/tops to reduce sun-glare. Whether it is true or not, it did make sense.

I hate tan interiors.
Why do they have to match artificial body parts color, and or hearing aids. |

It’s to avoid the glare of the sun. Darker dashes reduce the glare.

Re: Why do 81-87 trucks with tan interiors have brown dash pads?
The glare makes sense, I guess. I don't see how it would be much worse than the blues, reds, and elusive green of the same time period, but I'm sure they had their reasons. I guess they didn't care about such things when they built the 95-98 gmt400s, and many gmt800s. Tan seems to be the most common dash color in those trucks. I have my dash in '85 Silverado incorrectly painted the same color as the factory tan pillar trim and door panels. I've never noticed a glare problem, but that's just me.
