What toolbox you got laying on your bed?

Would love some help finding a decent toolbox and curious to see some pictures. Please include price/link to source if possible. Thanks!

Re: What toolbox you got laying on your bed?

I just ordered one of these from a company out in Oregon called highway products. Looks like a quality bit of gear. It’ll sit just below the bedsides so I can run my bed cover also.

I know its a square body but I've got a Rawson Koenig box. I didn't drill holes in my bed and used Grip-Rite clamps to mount it in place instead. Having one large lid is nice too, I did spray the inside with bed liner to keep things from sliding and getting covered with aluminum. Theres enough room under it to get 6 2x4's under it too so you can still use most of your 8 foot bed. Bought it used a long time ago and it looks the same as when I bought it.

Re: What toolbox you got laying on your bed?

I like the old steel boxes made by the tool box/utility body companies. I used to paint them to match. I never got water in the split tops because they were built right.

But what I have now was quick, cheap, minimal, and easy. Just what I wanted. It's a compact light box that's easy to take on and off. I got it at TSC for about $150. It's about 15 years old now, so dulled out just right. But I did want to disassemble and powdercoat white or silver so it might look like a steel one someone fabricated back in the day before everything went diamonds plate aluminum. I do remember diamond plate steel tool boxes back in the day. I pulled the TSC plastic emblem off, which left the holes for bees to get in. I finally found something I liked enough to cover the holes. I think it;s from a '60s HandiVan. It is held in place using j-bolts that hook on the inner bed rail lip. There is still enough room under it for a lot of things. Probably about 12-14". A tire fits under it.

Re: What toolbox you got laying on your bed?

My son just set a diamond plate, aluminum, full size box at the end of my driveway. Lasted a whole 2 hours before a fellow stopped with a truck and asked if I was getting rid of it. He was overjoyed when I told him it was his if he wanted to load it up! Dude had that in the truck FAST! Haha!

Came out of my son's '67 but he really didn't want it and we got it for free also.

Re: What toolbox you got laying on your bed?

This is the one I have. I like the ones that do not come up above the bed sides, such as the one Linz ordered. Amazon does not have the correct pictures for each of Weather Guard's models. Here is a link from Grainger. My brother did not buy it retail or online, he bought it at a fund-raiser auction and ended up not using it, and sold it to me.

Hiway Products makes quality stuff. They make those sliding floors I'd like to have in my work truck.

Re: What toolbox you got laying on your bed?

I have this one on my 65 C20. I don't know what brand it is. My Dad bought it in the 70's. I have had it on all of my daily driver 1/2 and 3/4 ton trucks, except for the 93. It's too wide for a 88-98. It stays dry, and the steel is stronger than the aluminum. The only thing I don't like is the upward facing handles fill up with ice in the winter.

Re: What toolbox you got laying on your bed?

I like that one. I remember those and other stuff made in that style. Probably the same company. They made side boxes that fit to the wheelhouse, top was flush with bed rail, t-handle. Nice a trim looking stuff
