King Pin Lock Pins

I installed my kingpins in the 47 3600 AD over the past 3-4 days (between trips to the ER for my wife's dad, and working with one "good" arm...). The problem I have is lock pins - they are the wrong size! All of the threads are sticking out the back, and there is still over an inch sticking out the front. Plus, they were a BEAR to get in there. Anyone have a photo of what they are SUPPOSED to look like? And maybe a couple extra of the correct ones? THANKS!

These came off a 53. Are these what you are looking for? I'll be home Thursday night.

Re: King Pin Lock Pins

It really doesn't matter how much sticks out the front side as long as they are tight and hold the king pin tight. Mick53 showed the elusive stops that keep you from turning the wheels too far with the pins that take up a fair amount of those threads on the back.

Re: King Pin Lock Pins

I have discovered the hard way that different sized lock bolts are available. Mine were too small and I had to resort to trial-and-error ordering to get the right size. If yours are too big they can probably be cut down to fit.

I think that the set in my axle now pulled in to the axle to the point that none sticks out on the front side. I've replaced the king pins on that axle twice since I put it in in 1989.

Yeah, that's the way mine were when I removed them, these stick out an inch.

Re: King Pin Lock Pins

I THINK Mick has the ones I need! these came with the king pin kit, and BARELY fit the hole. The flat spot on them is also real small. The originals are gone because they were beat up and - I THOUGHT the new ones would be correct!

Dachshund,
Here is a pic of the steering stops for a 3/4t and 1 t as well a a pic of the lock pins from the same axle. The stops Mick has are for a 1/2t. I am not sure if the lock pins are the same size for 1/2 and 3/4t. You would have to measure the diameter and length to be sure.

The one I have came out of a panel truck I think a 53. not sure what model. I just bought it from a junk yard to send to Pete and Jakes for a pattern. I can measure them when I get home tomorrrow. You are welcome to them if you need them. I stripped the axle before I sent it to them.

Here are the measurements on the stops I have. If you need them they are yours. No charge of course.

For some reason (probably me) my PM isn't working. The post office is closed today. I will get them off tomorrow.
