V8 np435

Anyone running this combo in their truck? Its in the v8 position and the high hump doesn’t work, looks like I need to use the I6 location for the engine mounts and move the trans crossmember back accordingly.

Not a common combination, the trans was previously behind a GMC 305 V6.

Thanks,
Jon

Re: V8 np435

Mine is further back in the flat portion of the cover. I’m betting I’m going to need to move the engine. Thank you for the pics!

Re: V8 np435

Engines now in the I6 location(V8 stands) and the high hump still won’t work, this engine and trans was in my C3500 but had been relocated in the frame after the V6 wore out, I’m wanting it in the right spot...hopefully someone on here has a V8/NP435 to confirm and tell me if I need the high hump like Astro’s

Re: V8 np435

Here are pics like you requested.

I figured I should respond in your thread and not the other one so that if someone else has an issue they can find the answer easier. My T-Hump looks just like the one that the guy with the big block posted. Looks like it's in the front holes. If you need pics of the transmission crossmember let me know and I can get those, too. Maybe you need a different bellhousing or something. I can get any pics you need!

Re: V8 np435

Thank you! I’ll move it back to the front holes and track down a square hole cover like the one you guys have. My trans was bolted to the crossmember in the front position. I appreciate the help!

No problem! It seems to me like the NP435 isn't a very popular transmission, so if you ever need anything let me know. I'm not an expert by anyone's definition, but I had a heck of a time working with it during my engine swap. Good luck finding a high hump!

Worst case it will get a 2wd 4 speed hump with the larger hole(mines a ‘67 small oval). It seems like a better geared trans compared to a 465 is why I decided to run it. Do you have any idea what flywheel you have?

I ended up needing a new flywheel and clutch, so here's what I bought. It's worked out well so far, but I've only got 10-15 miles on the build right now. Just waiting on a new fuel line and then I'll be driving it every day the weather allows!

Here are the parts I used as listed on Rock Auto. Not sure how to post a link to just the one part, but you can search the part number in the brackets and it'll come up.
Flywheel - PERFECTION CLUTCH 506504 {#3991469} - $79.99
Clutch Kit - PERFECTION CLUTCH MU90911 {#90681} - $65.79

I should probably say that I compared it to my old one (counted the teeth) and it was identical.

Re: V8 np435

I would not waist time on a NP435. The Sm 465 is a much better trans.
