Help with leak from speedo cable
I have a little leak coming from my speed cable that goes into my transfer case. I took out the old cable and replaced it with a new one and it is still leaking. Should I change out the bullet also? What am I missing? Any help would be great. Thank you

Re: Help with leak from speedo cable
The bullet has a small seal that rides on the speedometer gear shaft. The seal can be bad and/or the gear have a groove worn. You replace the whole shootin match for less than $20.

Thank you! I will do that tomorrow. Hopefully the parts store has it. Alaska doesnt have a good track record for parts getting here lol. Thank you.

Re: Help with leak from speedo cable
I bought mine off Ebay. It shipped out of Memphis. I do not know how that works to where you are. I think it's more of a transmission parts place thing than a auto parts store. I did the Ebay thing because the transmission suppliers near me are 30 minutes out of the way in bad parts of town. Worth $5 shipping to me.....

Re: Help with leak from speedo cable
Check out this thread:
https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...d.php?t=639106 That adapter is getting hard to come by. Last posts in that thread indicate a possible source. I went to Young’s Gear here in Fairbanks. They didn’t have any new ones but gave me 3-4 used ones and said “try em out. Keep what works best and bring the rest back. No charge.” Great guys, super helpful. That was 3 years ago. Fixed my leak.

Re: Help with leak from speedo cable
I don't think you will find it at a parts store. Only on line are a good transmission shop.
