I'm done and cant fight myself anymore..

I have been on the fene for a lot of years on whether or not to lower my truck. i wasn't planning on a knucklke dragger or air bag thing but a slight 2 1/2 inch spindle and 4 inch spring rear drop just to level the truck out and give it the look... I bought the pictured rims ( 17 x 8 ) and was gonna put them on my 99 Cop Tahoe but they are too big for the front of it with the factory 3 inch lower job on the front. So scrolling through Mecums upcoming March 11-14 Glendale Arizona Auctiuon I see the pictured truck with the rims that are very similar to mine and the slight drop on the truck and well I was done and crossed the line and am going to lower mine 2 1/2 - 4 and put my 17's on it. Now that ECE is done anyone have any recommendations other than CPP to get the lowering parts.

Rear coils? Nice wheels, they will look sharp.

My '69 long bed has McGaughey's 2-1/2" drop spindles in front and 4" drop springs on the rear. You can get them from Summit with free shipping.

I like the stance on your truck and its what I want. Did you use the shock relocators and adjustable panhard bar as well ?

I went with new shocks, but in the stock position. Panhard bar is also stock.

Already Gone,
Your truck will pop with those wheels and the drop you are looking at. I used McGaughey's 4" drop, progressive springs on the rear of my truck along with a shock relocation kit and adjustable bar.

I have not started on the front yet. Possibly start the tear down in the next few weeks and determine who I am going to get my drop spindles and such from soon.

Don't want to hijack the thread, but I have a question for Itdmstr. What size tires are running and do you have any rubbing issues. Your trucks stance looks great, that is the drop I am looking to get as well.

No hijack as that is a relevant question.

Re: I'm done and cant fight myself anymore..

U might want 2 check into a drop block and spring set up. The more drop from the spring the ride will tend to b a little rougher. Drop blocks can go up to 2 inches. You shouldnt need an adjustable panhard bar due to drop not being more than 4 inches.

I'm thinking you have 17 inch tires on your truck and are they 8 inches wide ? Also what size tires on the truck ?

Wheels are Wheel Vintque 15x8 with police style hubcaps from Coker Tire. I'm not sure of the offset. Tires are 275/60-15 on the rear and either 245/60-15 or 255/60-15 on the front (truck is at my shop right now but I can check in a couple days if you want me to). Everything fits fine. Body and fenders are all stock and I have no rubbing or clearance issues at all.

Re: I'm done and cant fight myself anymore..

Just FYI in regards to the wheels if they are American Racing. I have similar set on my LS6 swapped 98 Jeep Wrangler. They have over 10 years of mall crawling and summer time use and they still look great. The best part is the center black spokes and polished rims are powdered coated so zero maintenance other than wash and dry.

Re: I'm done and cant fight myself anymore..

This was a 2 1/2, 4 drop. I used ECE so I don't know about sources for parts. I used their shocks but didn't do anything to the panhard bar and no shock relocators. Rides great.

Re: I'm done and cant fight myself anymore..

Being one from the never look back crowd what would one do if you did not like the drop?

One of the great things about these model year vehicles is the availability of parts. What happens when the supplier of aftermarket parts goes out?

I would keep every part off your rig for sale purposes. Found this about a week ago, check out the article on the Camaro.

https://www.historicvehicle.org/nati...vrolet-camaro/

I grew up in the Motor City realizing at an early age how life in America changed tremendously when the common car came about. It would be very important to be able to put the vehicle back to stock with little to no modification.

Truck looks great, so you used ECE's shocks for lowered trucks with a 2 1/2 inch drop spindle and 4 inch dropped spring ?
