*In-Dash Speakers*
Now that I have my new radio up and running I'm wanting to put a set of the in-dash speakers in the original location. I know they are not the greatest but my wife and I probably won't lesson to the radio that much anyway. I just want it to be a working unit and not just for show. Anyone use these speakers before and did they fit in the original location behind the speaker grill? Looks like they fit in-between the radio and the dash and no support at the bottom. The one I'm showing comes from https://www.classiccarstereos.com/ke...t-speaker.html.

I used that speaker and it fits fine. If you're planning on only using that speaker, you won't be able to hear it when you're truck is running.

Re: *In-Dash Speakers*
Since I already had holes in my door inner skins, I use both door mounted speakers as well as in dash speakers. Even then, I need to crank up the volume.

Re: *In-Dash Speakers*
I have those speakers with a USA 740 radio and I can hear mine fine going down the road in a 49 3100. Not knowing your age I'm not sure if you'll grasp the next statement but I'd put the audio quality a little better than that of a mono AM/FM radio from the 60's.
Make sure to get the radio speaker sponge which cushions the speakers against the dash and helps direct the sound out the front. |

Re: *In-Dash Speakers*
Just like a lot of other things there are a lot of factors involved when we pick audio system pieces.
Some of our trucks are so loud from exhaust and engine noise that if the engine is on and it is moving a radio or sound system is useless. Some just flat have too many squeaks, rattles and wind noise. On the other hand we have guys who have spent countless hours snooping the audio freak boards to find out what the best sound deadeners are and then what head unit, amp and speakers produce the best aka perfect sound. On the other hand we have the kid that works out at the farm at the foot of the hill who only has a cd player, big amp and sub woofer with no tweets or mid ranges. You could bounce a silver dollar on the roof of that Honda when it is sitting still with the cd player on. He only owns one cd too, loud base. That said you might want to decide what level of sound system you want or maybe more important are willing to pay for. It doesn't have to be fancy but needs the right good quality pieces and not just truck trinket store pieces that fit. Few on her are probably old enough to remember when adding a 6x9 in the package tray and a wiring in a fader switch under the dash was the hot ticket with your tube type AM radio.

Re: *In-Dash Speakers*
Thanks for all the info guys. Like I said, my wife and I probably won't lesson to the radio I just want a functioning unit and not just a radio in the dash for show. Looks like the two shafts on the radio pass through the two holes in the speaker bracket. I just barely had enough adjustment to be able to get the washers and nuts on the front of the dash to secure the radio. I'll need to work on that I guess. Just wanted to hear from someone that these speakers would fit in the original area behind the speaker grille. So much stuff out there that claim it will fit an AD and won't.
