Question About 72 Door Panels??
The 72 door panel on the left has the stainless steel insert. Is that what the woodgrain decal was affixed??
The right (parchment colored one) has the strip of scrolling inside the chrome band. Is this door panel for trucks without woodgrain dash and glove box door?? Thanks for any info, I am deciding which ones to use in the 72 "Project 9 Foot Step" |

door panels
Panel on left is the one that used to have woodgrain on it. I have seen these polished and looked very good. I have also seen 1 guy who could re-woodgrain them real close to original.
The panel on right is custom deluxe one. They also made a plane jane version without the scroll and stainless strip trim. The woodgrain door panels came in the regular "cheyenne" (no dash woodgrain) and "cheyenne super" that had woodgrain glovebox insert and dash bezel. I think this covers it.

Thanks guys!! Hmmm, polishing or woodgrain...??
Thanks, I knew I shouldn't have bought the parchment panels Maybe I'll go back and get the matching seat belts. The truck is an olive green/white Cheyenne with Highlander package. I'm also going to save a good swatch of what's left of the seat material. I'd like to buy the whole truck to restore, but it was rolled |

parchment panels
That parchment panel looks good. The woodgrain or polished off insert can be installed onto door panels without them,. they fit under trim strip. Most vendors sell good reporduction inserts too. Some are in plastic and some in aluminum woodgrain like originals. Several people alos claim decent results with cleaning and re-dying these panels different colors. Just don't grease or armor all them before painting, use mild soap and water.

Yeah, I wish the other parchment panel cleaned up as nice. I plan on either using that green plastic/vinyl paint or ask at an upholstry shop for the correct green I need in a dye. I'd have to go with a woodgrain decal of some sort to cover where the handles gouged the metal from being on a 71 door.

Randy, Thanks for the offer, I'll keep that in mind for future reference
Tom, I really don't know yet. If I go to O'Reilly they have a green that will come close to matching the dash pad green. I'd prefer a lighter color so there would be a contrast of the dark forest green paint on truck and the vinyl/plastic trim. Sent you a PM. Thanks, Don |
