Re: Stearing column gasket best how to???
So there is a boot that goes over that spring or is it just a small seal I cannot see in the pic immediately?
I initially am thinking soak it in silicon spray. |

If you don't consider slitting it destroying it, you could do as shown in this link to a post in a tilt column FAQ.

If it’s new you should be able to stretch it. I’ve stretched a few of the GMC Paul’s gaskets successfully.

Re: Stearing column gasket best how to???
Those non tilt columns are super easy to work on and dont need any special tools.
Replace it from the top. Remove the shift lever Remove the 3 turn signal screws Remove the tune aignal cover Remove the ahift bowl Remove and replace the grommets Shift bowl probably needs cleaned and lubed anyway. |

Soak it in hot tap water for a few minutes. It will soften the rubber a little.

Re: Stearing column gasket best how to???
Thanks all for your input and expertise
I tried the stretch method before doing the hub disassembly Which works well with a new flexible seal and a shoehorn |
