Anyone else have a 67 K25 with 10000lb GVW?
Ive loved this truck since the first day I saw it. Was described as an error and did not make it a factory 1 ton rated 4 wheel drive truck.

Re: Anyone else have a 67 K25 with 10000lb GVW?
I posted up the images of that truck on a FB page and a 2nd 10000GVW GMC K25 showed up!!!
First VIN KM2590V PC1920B Second VIN KM2590V PC191.. One a definite Timpco fire truck and the second just happens to be red as well. Are these the only surviving 10000lb GVW factory four wheel drive GMCs in existence? |

Re: Anyone else have a 67 K25 with 10000lb GVW?
I love that truck, too. I don't think I've even seen one. In Maryland we can register a 3/4t up to 10,000# no matter what the factory GVW is.
The factory GVW on a single wheel 1t is under 10k#. I don't know why you had to buy a C3500 pickup with NAPCO conversion to have a 1t 4wd, that didn't have a 10,000# GVW, if you could just order a K2500 with 10,000# GVW. We are talking GMC K2500s when we are talking 67-72. GM went to just K25 later on in the Square bodies.

Pics of the gold one are in the thread above. I guess I can repost them here to make it easier.

Clinton Bays is the owner of the 2nd 10000 GVW GMC K20. Says to have the HD front axle, and LW code Eaton rear axle. 16.5x9.75 on all four corners. Currently going under full restoration

Cool. Always curious with the rare oddballs, especially 4WD.
Thanks |

Re: Anyone else have a 67 K25 with 10000lb GVW?
I’ve never seen those overloads on a 67-72 4x4 before. I’ve seen similar on square bodies before but not the 67-72. Very interesting thread.

Re: Anyone else have a 67 K25 with 10000lb GVW?
It's definitely got some springs. My guess is back then GM and the fire apparatus companies worked together on some special arrangements. The commercial end of COPO. Making available what ever is needed that is not offered off the production line. Same as CUCV builds. They are their own line.
I helped on a '68 Chevy Stepside C/30 NAPCO restoration that was a brush fire truck.

Re: Anyone else have a 67 K25 with 10000lb GVW?
Wow my C30 dually grain truck is only 10k gvw. As a 69 at or beyond 10K brakes are the obvious weak point. I believe they are the same front brakes as the 3/4 ton. Suspension wise at 14000 it hardly know the weight is there. Just rides nice.

Re: Anyone else have a 67 K25 with 10000lb GVW?
Being a '67 GMC it may haver never had a SPID. Ok, now I see him say it was under the seat, so he means build sheet. That thing was clean!

Re: Anyone else have a 67 K25 with 10000lb GVW?
Eaton rear axle, is it an H-072? Standard rear axle for a KM 2500 is a Spicer 60, no other RPO rear axle listed. Weird duck for sure!

Re: Anyone else have a 67 K25 with 10000lb GVW?
^^^ The Eaton rear went over my head. It hadn't sunken in that these are both GMCs until I looked back to check when posting about the SPID. These are cool trucks to have found. If there weren't two with the same 'different' features this would not be so fascinating. I though glitch on the VIN-plate/upfit when I saw the one first. A lot is upfit but the factory was also in on these special builds

Re: Anyone else have a 67 K25 with 10000lb GVW?
The Timpco has a Dana 60 knuckle front, the red truck has the later king pin Dana 60 front. Dana's axle charts for GM only go back to 77 and according to BillaVista.com GM never used the Dana 60 front with the closed knuckle design, only the spring loaded king pin type. So now I'm really confused! I think Tim is correct in that these were COPO one off ordered trucks. The GM and Dodge Dana 60 fronts were almost identical with the differences noted in BillaVista.com http://www.billavista.com/tech/Artic...nt_Axle_Bible/

Ironangel, I'm thinking it's a regular ol Dana 44 ^^
The 60 would have the inner u-bolt stud mount cast into the diff housing |
