Canceling Cam Help!!!

I have searched the forum and cannot find what I need. I had to take my tilt column apart last weekend to tighten bolts so that the steering wheel would stop wiggling. While doing so I noticed the canceling cam was cracked (pictured below and circled in red). It appears to me that it was over tightened. Ordered a new cam and installed, when I put everything back together I was super careful not to over tighten it. But this time the turn signals would not cancel. I am concerned about there being so much pressure on the plastic cam by the spring (picture below with the blue circle). Should I drop a washer in there? Am I reassembling incorrectly? Any help is appreciated. Pictures would help if you have them. Thanks

Hope you get the correct answer, I thought that the cancel cam had more than 2 bumps. more like 4 evenly spaced around. Might be different on straight columns...look at #11 in the photo looks like the cancel bumps are spaced different....http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=766221

Pull your new cancelling cam out and compare it to your old one. I think you have the wrong cam. The standard and tilt cams are different.

As for adding a washer, I say don't.

Thanks guys. The canceling cam itself should be correct. I purchased this column from randy500 and when I replaced the cracked one I ordered exactly what was already in it. The cam was not damaged when I received it, either the shop or I broke it.

Well it does appear that that is the correct cam for a tilt as it has two tits rather than the 4 that you see here https://www.fillingstation.com/detai...ANCEL_CAM.html for a non tilt. The tilt cam FS-53 is below that one on the page.

I'm going to say that the "something went wrong" factor came in to play with it being broken. Things not quite lined up right or rough handling may be it. Or just material fatigue.
