69 wont roll

Hello, I installed cpp front 2” drop spindles and shocks on my 69 c10. It has 72 disc on front. I have some old junk 15x7 wheels and tires on it now to roll it around while Im building. When I got it all together I found the tie rod end buried in back of wheel. What size & backspacing wheels is it going to take to clear this. I was thinking on putting 20’s on it when I get it done but wasnt going to bite that bullet til the end. I assume the 20’s would have no problems?
Thanks

Do you have drum brake wheels on it?

Idk they are just some 5 lugs that was on the roller when I got it. It rolled around fine before I lowered it.

Re: 69 wont roll

Check the backspacing i would say somewhere around 4 inchs is norm

Many pre disc brake wheels will catch on the brake caliper

Re: 69 wont roll

Looks close also looks like it is not contacting the wheel at the tierod

Have you looked at the brake caliper for rubbing the wheel

I notice the gold plate the calipers are bolted to are they a larger then stock 72 brake system?
Some aftermarket brakes need a larger then 15 inch wheel to clear the brakes

That pic is after 4 big flat washers on each lug stud to space the wheel out so wheel would turn. Its a caliper relocation kit to go with the drop spindles. Factory calipers. I just painted them.

Re: 69 wont roll

Wheels are probably 60 Something GM big car drum brake wheels.
In the early/ mid 70's I saw a lot of wheel hitting the calipers when guys traded in their mid 60's cars on early 70's cars and kept the custom wheels and swapped them out. The older drum brake wheels usually had clearance problems with the calipers.

If you were close to me I have two 5 lug Chevy truck wheels that I think are 15X 8 that you could have for loading them up and carrying them off. Wife had them on the back of her 69 Caprice ex cop car with snow tires.

Re: 69 wont roll

72 c10 dr disk brake stock setup with a 15 inch c1500 wheel from a 96 pickup
so you should be fine look for a set of 16 inch wheels for rollers

it does look like CPP moved the arm out more towards the rotor
