Huck, a solution for you

Huck, i was looking on paces site. heres a speedo conversion that will for you or anyone else for the matter. It takes a electronic signal from your tranny and then runs a speedo cable that will work in our trucks.

I know that the 700r4 trans was made with both mechanical and electronic speedos, so the parts are available for the conversion for the automatic. I have also replaced the speedo gear with a shudder wheel in a np205 tcase swap I did. The inside splines are exactly the same, so it was a dirrect swap. My point is, see if the trans you are running was produced prior to the electronic speedo ('87 and down I think). Even if not, the sensor ring will probably be a dirrect swap with a speedo pickup gear. Then you would need to modify the tailhousing (if it has one) to accept the speedo cable. It helps if you know a machinist for this. It may be cheaper than $280
