GM 14 Bolt Carrier type ID help
My 68 K20 has a transplanted 14 bolt GM Corporate axle assembly in the rear. The seller told me it had a 4.10 ratio but I wanted to be sure so I pulled the cover. It does have a 4.10 but I'm not clear if this is a limited slip, locker or open carrier. Can someone educate me on what type this is.

Re: GM 14 Bolt Carrier type ID help
4 pins is an open carrier and 3 is a gov-loc. 4 pin could have a detroit installed, but you'd know that by driving it

My c30 has the same setup but it's geared in 373. Still don't know what that type of carrier is called

Just a heads up for those that do not know......if you split the case, look for a witness mark on the edge of the carrier that tells you where to align the unit when reassembling Last edited by kwmech; 11-03-2020 at 02:57 PM. |

Re: GM 14 Bolt Carrier type ID help
This, I’ve got 2 14 bolts opened up right now on the shop floor because of a disk brake mod I’m doing. Both are open carriers just like the one pictured. You can look into the little windows and see there’s just spider gears and nothing else in there.

Re: GM 14 Bolt Carrier type ID help
Curious. What is the function of the bolts in the middle of the bearing caps?
