Eaton H110 11K axle diff specs?(completed thread)

Hi
Didnt mean to spam the forum. i tried uploading pic as site was going down for maintenance and did not realize the error i received was posting an empty thread. My apologies.

Hi

Getting ready to tear down my diff. My service manual list backlash but pinion preload is blank for 11k axle. Did a search here and google and so far have come up empty.

anyone have specs for this diff?

as I dig in I have found the pinion bearings are not tapered. I am assuming this means the nut only needs to be torqued to spec(220 ft lbs)? Waiting on socket so I can disassemble further to inspect.

I tell you Dave, you might be the one to educate us on the HO110. Maybe in the "Heavy Haulers" forum a bit down the page would have some knowledgeable people on those since the rear was in the light medium duties and guys messing with those are over there. I'd like to know more myself, so I'm watching your thread here

I will post what I find. I found a company that list parts for it. Hopefully they have bearings for it.

sounds like a great idea but I would need something heavier for this application(unless the dana 60 is more robust than i realize). With h110 I will be able to legally buy 2-2.5 tons of stone from the quarry. I imagine there are other options(and may end up there) but hoping to keep this axle going. This vehicle is registered at 14k GVW.

I have had a couple trucks with this rear, a '60 C/40 (10-30 sheet metal) and a '69 C/30 with 11,000# axle option (like you have). Neither ever needed any work other than brakes, which were available at that time. I like seeing that rear continuing use, and working it.

yeah me to. I found a Canadian based company that use to cary parts. On the phone he said no more. I have parts from Rock order coming. We shall see.

My current situation was a whirring sound while moving and growing as speed increases. The pinion seal was leaking . U joints and driveshaft support worn. Very fine metal particles in oil. Nothing large and no signs of carnage. When removing the case i noted some bolts were relatively loose and I suspect some bearings were installed. The outer pinion bearing is not overly crunchy and rolls relatively well. It has some play in it though. The backlash was not measured but was about a mile off. I am not a very experienced individual with diffs so am learning. The ring and pinion appear ok to me but again experience may be lacking here. The side and spider gears seem fine too but are still buried in the carrier. Once I am able to get things cleaned up ill post a link to some high res photos and perhaps solicit opinions.

I am crossing fingers and hopeful that reassembling and getting the backlash set correctly will buy it some time. If all for naught recon ill get a history lesson at least.
