68 hood edge molding
Having trouble fitting aftermarket hood edge molding to my hood. Bolt holes line up but it seems the molding doesn't fit tight against hood. Molding is Corvex brand. Just seems too narrow.

Re: 68 hood edge molding
I’m having the same trouble with the one I bought from GMC Paul. When you fit it at the center of the hood the ends are still about 2” away from the hood. It’s not bent at enough of an angle the fit the hood properly.

Re: 68 hood edge molding
Stover93, is yours Corvex brand also? Mine follows the hood although there is at least a 3/8" gap between it and the hood metal as I don't think it is wide enough.

Re: 68 hood edge molding
I’m not sure what brand it is. I tossed the package a while back. Really disappointed with the fit though.

Re: 68 hood edge molding
Anyone with some tips from their experience with this molding?
Do they all fit this badly? Do they require modification? Any brand better than the other? |

Re: 68 hood edge molding
Not sure what brand mine was but it was like you all said. I started in the middle and worked my way to both ends on the ramp truck. Took my time and as I tighten the trim down it worked out. I went back and forth on it all the way to the ends. It looks nice now. I put new letters on it also.
Make sure you keep the fender backing plate pieces because you will need them.

Re: 68 hood edge molding
Your welcome. If you take the front fender edge pieces off to install new ones those are the wedge pieces you need to keep. They go up inside the wedged area to hold the nuts level. The new pieces didn't come with them.
