Z bar removal
Can someone tell me what I'm missing? How does the z bar release from the bellhousing?

Re: Z bar removal
If I recall correctly, there should be a depression (flat side) on each side of the ball-stud which allows you to get an open end wrench on it to screw it out/in to the housing. You might need to degrease/clean the area to get a better look at what you are working with. If you are removing/re-installing, I highly recommend replacing all the "wear" parts (studs, seals, clips etc).

Re: Z bar removal
loosen the bolt on the frame side, and it should move up, and out of the bracket. then you can pull it off the bellhousing knob.
