April 2021 ToTM

The theme for our April 2021 contest is

Dust & Rust

Rust and dust maybe their dominant feature. This month’s contest theme is based on those trucks that are rude, crude, and vehicles that are far from show or nice. The criteria for this month’s contest is:
  • Open to all years and models of Trucks, Blazers, Suburbans, Tahoes, Yukons, and Jimmys.
  • The vehicle nominated needs to belong to a board member during the time of the contest.
  • It must be road worthy and currently legal (until the cops catch you) to be on the road.
  • It must have an unmatching paint scheme (no all primers)
  • It must have at least three other distinctly viewable issues. This includes things like:

    o Missing panels
o Dents and Holes (large and small)
o Dominate rust formations (not patina)
o Anything that might make someone afraid to go near it for fear
of catching some sort of disease.

  • If a truck was selected as a 2020 or 2021 TOTM winner then you are ineligible. If the truck was nominated but not selected as a TOTM winner then it may be nominated and compete in this month's category.
To Nominate:

You or someone else may nominate the vehicle. The nominee must be a board member and the current owner of the truck. Once you decide on who you wish to nominate, just add your nomination to this thread. We will need two pictures minimum with at least one full view of the vehicle. In addition, we will need the owner’s board name and the Make/Model/Year of vehicle.

Nominations will run through March 24. The first 15 nominees that meet the criteria will participate in the contest We will need two pictures minimum (at least one full view of the vehicle) with/for the nomination as well as the owner’s board name, the Make/Model/Year of vehicle. I will PM the nominees to get any additional data or pictures if they have not already been provided. If the owner has a preferred picture they want used in the contest, please let me know in a PM. You can PM me for an e-mail address in case anyone has problems resizing the pictures for the board. A Poll Thread will be set up March 25 in this board area and an announcement will be posted on the Discussion Boards to notify all that voting has begun. The Poll will run thru the morning of April 1 and the official announcement of the winner will be on the evening of April 1. The announcement of the TOTM winner will be posted through the General Discussion Board area.

Rusty (the Redneck Reject)
1960 Chevrolet C10 Apache - Long Time running Project

Color - Primer / Rust / Dove Grey / Implement Gray /Moss Green

Looks bad, smells funny, leaks worse - about all you could ask for in a truck!

Missing rear bumper, and second gear, lots of holes for long gone equipment (some partially filled, many not)

Definitive road force ventilation system ( rust ; floors, roof, anywhere it can)

Straight pipes with a side dump exhaust and street sweepers - you can hear us before you see us but the oil leaks will have you remembering us long after we are gone

He ain't pretty, but we get where we need to go!

Lots of Rust, more memories...

Mine checks pretty much all the boxes. Missing bed, cracked windshield, dents, and plenty of rust.

Re: April 2021 ToTM

Heck I guess I’ll throw mine in... my long term project 1972 K20 Cheyenne, currently sporting 3 different shades of green, hugger orange, white (5 different colors) and rust bleeding on the back of the cab with holes under the tool box door... front bumper?? Nah!! Mufflers??? Who needs them??!! Side view mirrors and most of the trim??? They can wait!! The windshield leaks, and the springs are saggy. Did I mention the weird, painted on cartoon character thing on the passenger fender??? Most importantly of all, my wife normally refuses to be seen in it!

I love the face! It’s like your very own version of “nose art” similar to what was on many WWII planes.
