Door Latch Striker Plates - 1950 versus 1953
I have a 1953 Chevy truck with doors from a 1950 Chevy truck. I ordered new striker plates for a 1950 Chevy truck but they do not fit on the door jamb of my 1953 Chevy truck - mounting surface of the striker plate where the screws go in is about 1/4" to 3/8" away from the door jamb and of course the new striker plate screws I ordered are not long enough. Which striker plates should I be using with these doors?
Thanks. Wade

Re: Door Latch Striker Plates - 1950 versus 1953
I had the opposite situation: 1952 doors on a 1949 cab - different striker plates and door jamb configuration on early ADs versus late ADs (turn-down door handle vs push-button door handle). I had to modify the striker plates by welding the early and late types together.

Got them modified - cut, welded and powder coated.
Thanks for all the help. One more thing off the list.

I was afraid that someone was going to say that. Not a big deal, but I would prefer not to weld them.

The best description of my build. There have been lots of things to fix and do properly. Takes a lot of time.
