Hanger bearing question....
I installed a new hanger bearing for the driveshaft on my '72 C20. The dust shields were mangled up pretty good, so I did not put them back on. Is this going to be a problem? I will be only driving on tar, in the summer...

I ****=canned mine long ago. If they are tweaked just a little bit, they can squeak and drive you insane. Then they come and get you and put you in a "special" coat and put you in a "special" room. The food sucks there, you don't want that.

Ok, thanks guys. I have heard things about them squeaking and such with the dust shields on. I just thought I would ask to make sure.
My last bearing was demolished, about 2" of play in it, lol.

When the center support bearing rubber dries out and shrinks, it can cause severe drive line vibration. If you have any play up and down or side to side, replace it. You will probably need an impact wrench to break the bolt that holds the yoke on the spline. The bearing is the sealed type so the dust shields are there only to keep stones and big clumps of mud etc. out.
