NOS Parts Question--Vent Window Channels
Posting this here as I'm hoping some NOS parts guys can help me out...
Has anyone seen NOS Vent Window Channels without the "A Bailey Product" stamping? I have some "NOS window channels" in opened wrappers that do NOT have the stamping shown below. Every NOS (& used OEM) one I've seen has had the stamping. I'm wondering if mine perhaps aren't NOS GM parts. The only difference I can think of is that the ones I have without the stamping are p/n 15662134. The ones with the stamping that I have seen in the past have always been p/n 3936809. Anyone have p/n 15662134 on the shelf that could look for the "A Bailey Product" stamping? I'm not looking to sell them, but just to be fully compliant with board posting rules, I will sell the vent window channels for $1,000 Last edited by 402Bowtie; 07-09-2021 at 07:34 PM. |

Re: NOS Parts Question--Vent Window Channels
I have a set or two with the Baily inscription. I believe they are GM contracted parts source. If you use them to rebuild a set of vent windows. The rebuilder will have to drill all the holes for the attachment of the frames. But, they are last like a OE GM part, not like aftermarket insets.
Check with Roger Koop, he rebuilds nice vent windows.

Re: NOS Parts Question--Vent Window Channels
I just packed them away.....Ha!
I'll double check, but I don't recall seeing a stamp on the original bar, I did strip them. Maybe the old are Bailey with or with a tag. From one opinion, newer GM Baileys are square on top like the rest of the bar, while originals are cut 45ish. And yeah to the trained eye you'll see it, but it's not the worst thing. Old is always better seems. For instance, I like rivets better on original spot mirrors. Been a while since I've pulled them out, I remember the rivet was better and/or workmanship.

My question ultimately is does anyone have p/n 15662134 with the Bailey inscription? I bought some 15662134 parts described as NOS but wondering if they may have been swapped with some repro's, as they don't have the Bailey inscription. I'm not sure which part number came first...3936809 or 15662134. I've seen some used ones with the Bailey inscription and every 3936809 part I've seen has had the inscription....so maybe 15662134 was a later run by a different vendor? |

My NOS Bailey’s are 3936809. The part number doesn’t come up for light trucks, but does medium, which isn't that unusual, it's the same cab. Oddly 15662134 doesn't come up under parts search, though sure a lot of hits on the web otherwise. OT: Where 3936809 shows in the parts book reads "Excludes Tilt". You got me.

Re: NOS Parts Question--Vent Window Channels
John I have two NOS sets. One set is stamped. One set is also pre-drilled for the vent window frame rivets. It’s interesting that some were pre-drilled.

Re: NOS Parts Question--Vent Window Channels
Correct.
The set with wrapper remnants has p/n 3936809 and it is stamped. The non-stamped set is without a wrapper. It has predrilled holes and the tab that’s folded out to nest with the window frame. I’d say some were stamped others not. Some predrilled others not. Were channels ever reproduced with the felt inserts embedded in the track like OEM? I don’t believe so but maybe I’m wrong.

Re: NOS Parts Question--Vent Window Channels
Hi Tony - Yes, the division bars. I've not seen repros that have the fabric/felt guides affixed to the metal channel itself as shown above. Rather, I've seen repro guides/inserts that are designed to be placed inside existing OE metal channels at the time of rebuild. My point is, if metal channels have the felt/fabric guides affixed these are likely NOS/OE.
