****3/4 Ton Disc Conversion Questions*****

OK.....RECIEVED MY 3/4 TON DISC BRAKES FROM KILOMANJARO
THANKS JOHN......

INFO:69 3/4 TON 2 W.D. DRUM'S/ CONVERTING TO DISC

PARTS RECIEVED:SPINDLES,ROTORS, CALIPERS, HOSES,STEERING COMPONETS,....FROM A 72 I THINK

QUESTIONS:

#1 ARE THE BALL JOINTS THE SAME??
#2 ARE THE STEERING COMPONETS THE SAME...TIE RODS ETC.?
#3 WILL MY 16.5 WHEELS WORK WITH DISC?
#4 IS THE MASTER CYL THE SAME?
#5 PROVALVE THE SAME?

1 ball joints probably different. 2 same steering parts i beleive although you will probably want to put new ones in just because. but the rotors and calipers in the wheels and see! master cylinder and pro valve different

master cylinder should be different (larger capacity for disc)
and proportioning valve is definately different.

check on the net for interchangeable ball joints and tie rods.

use an auto parts site to comapre part #'s

thats what i did to see what interchanged for my 70 when changing to disc.

i used autozone.com
and o'rileys web side

It is all different. This is one reason why I do complete front crossmember changes to include tie rod, tie rod ends, pitman arm, idler arm and etc. Benifits to changing the entire cross member are, Proper brake line location and tighter turning radius and ease of remembering what you have for future parts replacement. I also use the entire power brake assembly, from the rod to the proportioning valve for the same reasons. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com
