help with wiring
i just acquired a 85 k5 blazer. the previous owner removed the engine and now wiring is just laying around. before disconnecting everything they left the driver side power window down. i am trying to get it back up but unsure what i need to connect to the battery.
i tried connecting a few wires here to a battery without any luck. also here i seem to have a few wires cut. should this ground be connected for the power windows to work? |

I think if you give that wire with the large ring terminal and fusible link 12 volts and hook the battery to ground it should work.

For what it takes to pop off the trim panel & get on the window motor, it would likely be a simpler way to go & avoid having another hot wire touch down on something & fry a fusible link or something. Lorne

The big ring is positive, goes to the starter where the battery positive would be. You'll need a good ground to the body.

That ground coming out of the fire wall where wires were cut is no longer necessary, it was used for the computer for the Electronic Spark Control (ESC). The cut wires would have hooked up to a knock sensor and the distributor, plus a sednoid in the carburetor. That was a stand alone system.

The 3/8" ring terminal that's laying on the crossmember is one of the main power connections.
The other main power connection is the stud block on the firewall next to the brake booster. The braided cable hanging off the firewall is a good place to hook your ground to power up the cab.
