Steelie Help for a 72
I've searched the forum high and low for an answer only to come up empty or unclear. I fancy myself as somewhat of a good "searcher" as well.
Anyway - I just bought a 72 Suburban K10 and want to go with steelie wheels and caps. Preferably 15 x 8 and 33" tires. The only thing I can find on here is that some of them will hit the caliper, but yet I see people running them all over the place. Can someone point me in the right direction of what wheel from Wheel vintque or summit or wherever to get me some 15x8s that won't hit the brake caliper? Thank you!

Re: Steelie Help for a 72
The six lug is hard to find. Even harder are steelies that will have the nubs to hold the center caps. I went with these for my K10. Ordered from Ecklers, but they come from Wheel Vintiques. Mine are 16x7 as I am staying with the tall and skinny look, but wanted to be a little less skinny than stock. Going with no caps, but black lug nuts. (Don't have those yet.) Ordered last February and just got about two weeks ago! Supply chain back-ups. I have drums, but plenty of clearance. The back-spacing is a half-inch more than stock, but still had clearance to the tie rod ends. Some people on this forum have nice six lug Ford wheels that will fit with the nubs for caps, but I live in NY and even 90's vehicles have long left the scrap yards. You can see from the screen paste, that 15x8 is one of the choices in a smoothie.

Re: Steelie Help for a 72
What you want are the square body 6 lug steelies with 4 nubs on them, these clear the calipers

Re: Steelie Help for a 72
You can get pretty much any size you want custom made.
For around the same price as those wheel vintiques.http://thewheelsmith.net/ I use them because they are close to me. |
