Re: one wire alt
I've always run it to the big post on the starter.

Re: one wire alt
I just did this yesterday on my '65 with a GM one-wire alternator. It should be wired just like in the instructions... 6 gauge wire from battery post(big post) on the alternator to one lug on the fuse block. On the same fuse block side the 6 gauge wire runs to the battery lug on the starter.
For the 10 gauge red wire, it goes from the opposite fuse block on the non-crossover bar lug (just like in the instructions.). It runs into the cab to the plug on the main wiring harness with the red 10 gauge wire and purple 10 gauge wire. Just make it look exactly like the picture in the instructions. The purple 10 gauge wire runs down from that same plug in the cab to the ignition connector on the starter. Alternator plug with the one wire just goes from the only place it can plug into on the alternator and the wire connects to the battery post on the alternator. To complete this circuit, you just need to run a positive battery cable from the battery to the battery lug on the starter. Done. |
