Check Engine Light
Does anyone here know if there is a way to program the ECU to never show the check engine light? I bought a 2010 Chevy that the CEL never comes on, not even when turning the key to the on position when all the other lights come on. I used a code reader and there were multiple codes that should have turned on the light. I am wondering if the car dealer disabled the CEL instead of fixing all the problems. Thanks.

Re: Check Engine Light
Yes, you can tune out, via HP Tuners, DTCs that normally would trigger CELs.
Key on, no CEL is a new one though and I don’t think you can turn that off via computer programming.

Re: Check Engine Light
I had a thought. Perhaps the bulb is burned out. This could particularly happen if the CEL had been on for a long time.
The unfortunate part is that these bulbs are not the twist to remove type that have been used in the past. They are soldered in, making replacement a bit more involved. It certainly could be worth testing the bulb if you really want the functionality. If you don't like to fool with it yourself, Southern Electronics in Richmond, VA does really good work at an affordable price. Turnaround is fairly quick, too. Good luck!
