Re: 72 Blazer project. OMG
I hate barret Jackson. They single handedly are ruining everything I like about these trucks. Used to be simple and a fun hobby. Now you need a six figure income to restore them. Just stupid.

Re: 72 Blazer project. OMG
![]() So why not take the week and a half and get it going before you try to sell it? He uses the words "brand new" at the beginning, and the camera pans to all the grease and crud underneath... It still has a lot of work to be done, and I think asking $130k is dreaming big time. Buying other people's unfinished projects can bring hidden problems.

No doubt he sees the potential problems and wants to get as far away from that truck as he can. 130K and you cant even drive it on the trailer... If you didn't see the last BJ Auction in AZ results on trucks/blazers it has reached INSANITY again.... Smitty

Re: 72 Blazer project. OMG
My thoughts is the seller was high when he listed it.
Very few went for over $200K, but now everyone thinks their Blazers are worth that. Putting an LS engine in does not affect value, but a complete chassis swap will only degrade the value. It's not even worth half of what he's asking considering it's unfinished. That's my thought. |

Re: 72 Blazer project. OMG
I couldn't even sell my jimmy 3 years ago. And I priced it low to 3 different guys. I'm glad it didn't sell.

Re: 72 Blazer project. OMG
Greed and idiocy. If he get's $100k less than asking he'll be doing well.

Re: 72 Blazer project. OMG
This is so stupid! You fricking kidding me? Mine was expensive. Not even half of what he is asking though. It was running and wired, etc. I would pay maybe $50K for one with a factory frame and put in a Gen5 GM motor. I would not want someones cobbled together Gen3 GM framed cadillac escalade. Maybe if it was made from a modern escalade.
Seriously though, Think about this. You could buy a brand new utility HD GM truck for about 50K and strip it down an fit a decent Blazer body to it and still spend less than what this guy is wanting. You will have a brand new truck but with a Blazer body. Remember, dang near every body panel of a Blazer is being reproduced now. You could almost bolt together a new Blazer. This is crazy but I hope I can sell my Blazer one day for Ridiculous kinds of money one day. |

All I can say is WHY !!!!! Why would you get rid of a dana 44 front differential, a 205 transfer case, a 12 bolt rear differential and a stout frame and put that independent front suspension crap, an all wheel drive t-case and a cheesy 10 bolt rear differential under it. sure it'll ride better but in my opinion it would have been smarter to leave the stock running gear under it, maybe throw the 6.0 with a 4L80 adapted to the 205 t-case, then it would have a cool factor. we repair that independent garbage at work all the time especially when they are lifted with mombo rims and tires, 10 bolt rear diffs with that wonderful gov lock carrier-i've seen the split right in half. i'll probably piss off a few people with my comments but in my opinion he f%^&ed up what could have been a really nice blazer.

Think about this too. You could take that body and purchase a roadstershop RS4 chassis for the thing. Then add an LS3 or better and a great install and still spend less that what this guy is asking for a POS old balls escalade chassis swap. https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=M-UhJiNePTw ![]() Last edited by NDM; 02-08-2024 at 12:45 AM. |

To each their own of course, but my opinion is to just let them be an old truck (or K5) and retain the original character. |

Re: 72 Blazer project. OMG
Yeah. I am 100% okay with new motors and Trans's because it is like giving the old car a new life. This thing that the guy is building is just nonsense.

Re: 72 Blazer project. OMG
i LIKE IT, so long as any major modifications were made to the frame and not to the body so that the blazer could be fit back onto an original frame. and his price is too high. 100 too high for something not moving under its own steam

Re: 72 Blazer project. OMG
I installed an ls3 4l80e swap in my 72 but kept the original frame and axles. I had the original 12 bolt and Dana 44 rebuilt. Installed an offroad designs 3” lift with softer springs. I adapted the NP205 case to the transmission and kept the stock location for the t case. I moved the engine forward and only oblonged the forward holes in the frame. I bought a bolt in engine crossmember that didn’t require new holes to install. I tried my best to keep everything stock on the frame so if needed it could be put back. The dash isn’t even cut for a newer stereo. I have to say the ls3 runs really nice and cruises down the highway at 2000 rpm with 373 gears. 33” tires. I wouldn’t ask close to what this guy is asking and mines cleaner and a Highlander to boot.
