First timer here
Hey guys, first timer here. I’m from southern AL and have always liked hot rods and old cars. Finally bought a project for myself and hopefully my twins will share my love for this old stuff. The project is a 1971 C10 lwb stepside with a 292 and 3 speed. Got the engine running with just a set of points, but trying to go through everything else to get it road worthy. Love this site and all the information from it. Again, this is my first project so feel free to throw your ideas in. Thanks.

Re: First timer here
Awesome truck! Is that original paint? It looks like it based on the 71 only disc brake sticker… looks to be in great condition.

Re: First timer here
Everything is original. The odometer reads 16028. Not sure if it’s rolled over or not. Not sure how to start cleaning everything up. Since it’s in such good shape, I think I want to polish the paint and leave it as close to original as possible. I’m going as far as to put the more aggressive tires on the rear and streets for the steer tires. I’m an old country boy so I thought it’d be neat to make it look from the period

Quote:
Some good indicators of whether the odo rolled over is to look for wear on and under the gas pedal, the driver area of the seat (which doesn’t appear original actually), where your arm would go on the driver window sill, key knicks around the driver door key hole and the ignition bezel. Post some pics of those areas if you want. I would love to see more pictures anyway.
