Hood closing opening issues after grille replacement
Removed old grille and installed a new one. Hood would spring open before when pressing the handle on the latching mechanism. Now I press it and it doesn’t spring up or seem to detach from the latch. If I press in on the face of the hood while holding the latch lever I can get it open, but it’s not right. Any ideas? Also difficult to get closed and latched. Don’t see anything binding or rubbing. Did loosen the fenders a bit to get the grille in easier but tightened back up.

Re: Hood closing opening issues after grille replacement
First thing I would do is adjust the front hood bumpers higher.

Re: Hood closing opening issues after grille replacement
you may need to adjust the hood latch bolt. It could be in a slightly different location after you loosened and retightened the fenders?

If the hood closes like the op wants it, bumpers right, then seems to me lube, then if needed adjust the catch bolt. If that don't work move the catch plate a pinch. If that don't work your latch isn't inline.... speaking for a 71, pretty hard to screw that up. Picture of op's hood?
