helper air bags
Do you think they would cause a rear wheel hop at some speeds ??

Re: helper air bags
changing suspension geometry can change how the torque loads of the axle interact with spring / control arms. So lifting your ride height up might change axle hop.
the some speeds part : wheel/ axle hop is usually only going to happen when the suspension is loading up with torque, then releasing. Like when you are loosing traction on acceleration. If you have a vibration at certain speeds, it may be something other than wheel hop. Knowing what kind of rear suspension you are talking about might be helpful. But given the nature of this forum.....if your leaf spring suspension RWD truck has wheel hop when the tires are spinning the helper bags are probably not a big contributor. Look at stiffer springs (add back the overloads?) or add some axle twist control device, slapper bars, torque arm, caltracks |

Re: helper air bags
It's a 1989 gmc dually , leaf spring shock setup , does it in the 40-50 mile an hour area .
All rims balanced and front end alignment done , this could be helpful it still bounces when I let off the gas !! |

Air pressure in the bags?

Re: helper air bags
Is the truck loaded? no need to run more than 10-20 psi in bags when not in use. That is from my experience. At the low pressure unloaded the bags provide a dampening effect on the leafs, taking away the jitters on the highway.

Re: helper air bags
Definitely too high of air psi for a helper bag.
I never needed more than 30-40 on mine. My dually w/a 4-bar + sleeve bag swap (no leaf's) usually needs mid 50's when loaded down.
