What is the size hole needed to mount a DIN sized radio in the dash?

I am not sure what the "size" is but we use single din radios. double din are for like the big radios that just about all of the auto companies are using now.
Single DIN

Someone will correct me if I am wrong but I believe the standard size is 1 1/2 DIN.

I am looking for the "single" DIN hole size. I think it is 2" X 7" but need to confirm before I slice into the dash.

I never knew this:
DIN- Acronym for Deutsche Industrie Norm (Deutsches Institut fuer Normung), the German standardization body. A world reference standard for the mounting parameters of many common receivers ( Head ends) as well as other types of cables and equipment The standard DIN size head unit opening is approximately 7" wide x 2" tall. Apparently it is called simply "DIN"

I wouldn't cut anything untill you have the new stereo in your hands.
Then take the mounting cage and trace around it, and cut on the inside of your markings. |

I have a single din Alpine mount in my hand here, it measures:
2-1/16 OD x 7-1/8 OD actually maybe a 32nd larger than this all the way around.
