trans help

the 3spd in the ole ladys 69 is about shot will be swaping a 402 midly built in the fall.what 4 or 5 speed trans will hold up to being jerked around once in a while.would love a richmond but thats out of my league.dont want a lot of major modifcations and want to keep the speedo not one of the elec. ones.
i dont know alot about manuals basically i know about the m21/m22 and theyre hard to find.what would you recommend with out droping 1500/2grand.
please help thanks

does it have to be a standard tranny? a good built 350 should hold up fine. if you are really wanting the extra piece of mind, the turbo 400's are a very good bet. they can built to be virtually bulletproof

kinda want a manual i got a 400th that needs rebuilt but i was told it wouldnt fit because i have the low hump cab.thx

The TH400 will fit with your low hump, my Longhorn came with a TH400 and it has a low hump, is that a small or big block that you have?
