Stepside wood floors
I'm trying to clear the smoke and get a mental picture of how the stepside bedsides attach to a wood floor. I have a long step wood bed but the wood is completely gone and the cross sills are just hanging from the bedsides.
As I understand it: There's a piece of angle welded/bolted along the inside of the bedside, this sits on the wood and bolts go through the angle/wood and cross sills. Same for the front of the bed. Is this correct? Is there anyhting special about the angle? Where is it welded at? I can't tell on my bed (haven't really look close either).

Your correct! It's spotwelded to the bedsides 13/16' above the front and rear ledge the wood sits on and has a stamped lip like the strips and square holes for the carriage bolts.

Is the front/rear ledge part of the bedside or the cross sill? Thanks,

The rear cross sill bolts to the bedsides and the wood rests in a notch in it. At the front the wood rests on the front panel lip and the first cross sill is only a few inches behind that. Hope this helps. I'm not quite sure I understand what you are wanting to know.
