Would you buy this for $2500
I have the chance to buy a 72 chev. pickup for $2500, I have always liked this body style think this is a good deal. This pickup is a daily driver with a newer crate motor in it. It is a half ton with a 4" lift and has a large dent on the bed behind the driver's side rear wheel. Besides that it looks like a pretty straight pickup, There is No rust on the pickup at all. I would attach a picture but it is too big of a file.
Any advice/information would be appreciated. |

Welcome from Louisiana! I'll be glad to help, but need a little more info. 4x4? Short bed? Fleet or stepbed? Since there is no rust, I'm going to say yes, it's probably worth the money, but any options will help, such as A/C, auto, 4x4, big block, original am/fm, two tone paint, etc. Short beds seem to bring more also.

It is a 4x4 with a 350 small block crate motor, edelbrock 650 carb, performance intake, electronic ignition, power steering, power brakes, custom wheels, new hoses/wires, newer paint (still glossy) carpet, new seat cover, door panels. It looks like a straight pickup that will make a great looking pickup someday.

Rust free 4x4 for $2500? Buy it quick. Especially if it's a swb.

Don't buy it, but I should go ahead and buy it so someone else doesn't get tricked into buying it.

Well I went and looked at that pickup yesterday and was very dissappointed. It had a pretty major leak coming off of the rear main seal area, the hubs did not work and the guy said he didn't know if the 4 wheel drive worked either, he has never had it in. The rear end had a jimmy rigged seal and the clutch slipped. The interior was in decent shape and the bed has rust starting. The dent in the rear looked a lot worse than I had imagined from the pictures but I could deal with that. Needless to say I did not buy the rig due to the fact that I am not in the position to be spending all of that money on running gear. Nor do I have the shop necessary to work on it in. If you guys are interested still, it is in Selah, Wa and I found it in the collector car trader online website. Thanks for the advice, and I have learned that pictures do not give the full picture of a vehicle. Thanks again and I will continue my search.

Good buy
Hey... whip out that check book and buy it. If ya don't, there are probably fifty+ guys on the board that will.
Looks pretty good and a basic crate motor these days goes for $1200.
