4X4 linkage question

Just wondering if anyone knows what bolt i need that goes where the 4x4 shifter piviots in the adaptor. I have one off of a 4 speed, but it seems too small.

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks
David

I need the same bolt/bushing/whatever. I've been told that it is available through GM, but haven't checked into it. If I come up with anything I'll let you know.

The bolt for the 4x4 shifters is pretty massive. Its got about an inch of shaft close to the head, then about another inch of teeth. I think its like an 11/16 bolt. Its been a while since i worked on mine.

Mine is a '71 1/2 ton with a th-350 and 205. Looking at the trucks griesel72 has listed, I would guess that he is working on his '71 K-20.

My old parts catalog shows one part number for 68-71 and a totally different number for a 72. Let me do some more research a work on Thurs and see if I can't come up with some part numbers that you can take to your local dealer and order.

Be careful!
I took out a 3-speed manual/NP205 and replaced it with a th350/NP205 out of a 72 blazer. I watched the guy take it out of the blazer so I know where it came from. The bolt for my new 205's shifter was different than the one for the manual. If memory serves it bolts into the adapter.

The new bolt that I bought from a Chevy dealer has a hole for a grease zerk.

It sounds like there are AT LEAST two different bolts for the shifter.

Ok 68-71 6272075 bolt shows to be discontinued. 72 bolt 6272339 has been replaced by 14009313 ( fits up to 91 with part time transfer case) I looked these up for transfer cases with turbo-hydramatic transmission. I don't know why 71 would be different from 72 cause they show the same shift lever.

Talking

Here is a picture of the larger bolt and a couple of bushings.

I am not sure what explains the difference but this is what I have. The bushings are from a 71 stick 205 adapter. Originally the bolt holding the shifter on the adapter was a 7/16-14 and was set up with the steel adapter. When I got the truck the threads were wallowed out so I drilled and tapped the adapter
out to 1/2-13 and made a brass bushing to fit the bolt. The O.D.'s of both bushings will fit the I.D. of the shifter.

I have a 71 auto 205 and it has the larger bolt shown, (9/16 threads) and the other 72 205 autos have the same bolt.

Not knowing what you have, I would suggest checking the threads in the adapter.

Jim

Thanks for all the help. I got the right bolt for mine through the GM dealer. Part # 14009313. It does have 9/16 threads, and is greasable. Cost- $11.57.

I just bought a '72 roller with a granny 4 rowbox and a 205, but mine has the beefy bolt and lower bent shift rod but no shifter handle. Does the dealer still carry them along with the boot setup for a K/10?

I'm not sure, but I would check with 69k5 here on the board. I think he parted a 4spd 4x4, and might have a shifter to sell. I just bought a new boot from LMC. I think it was about $15. Also, mkmiller has a boot ring for sale, unless he has sold it already.
