Please help with the value of my truck

I just had my insurance cancelled because they don't agree with the value I have set on my truck. I've had the insurance through State Farm for about 3 months now. When they asked for the value I said about $6000 and they agreed to sign the policy. Now they say upon further review they are dropping coverage down to $3200. My next step is to have it appraised but I just wanted to make sure I'm not being crazy with the dollar amount. Here are the highlights and a few pics. Please help me figure if I should pay the $125 for the appraisal or just leave the value they set. Thanks!!

they see a multi colored truck that runs not all of the upgrades they dont care about that stuff. put a cheap paint job on it untill you can afford a good one and they'll probably agree on the 6000

Save all the receipts. This really helps for appraisal and insurance, it's proof of worth and not just what sombody thinks it's value should be.

State Farm will go buy Market Value. The Market Value on these trucks is easy to find, for State Farm, the more original and stock, the easir it is for them to set the value. ( I know because i had the front of my truck hit and they valued it at $4000, my truck is probably worth about $2750 market value because it has no options) They don't care much for or value modifications. $3200 sounds about right market value here in Texas for your truck.

I think that with the way the truck looks their value is probably accurate from their point-of-view. Not from our's though.

If you would put a $3000 paint job on it they would probably say it was worth 9 - 10,000 too.

So save receipts, and make sure you have them look at it again once it has paint.

Don't wreck it!!!

Food for thought...there are insurance companies who have special insurance options for trucks like ours..."specialty cars and trucks." You might find info on a thread search or someone else may have info. Your truck is a lot nicer than mine and I have a $5000 coverage should it get stolen or wrecked. Normal insurance may not be the best bag for the buck? Good Luck!

check into classic/antique vehicle insurance if its not a daily driver. They will usally let you put it at a much higher value if you have it listed that way. Also, i only pay $26 every 6 mo. for full coverage insurance in my 67' Its ALOT cheaper than regualar insurance. i go through state farm.

I would guess it would sell for about $4000 just from the pictures but it would be worth more then that if you added everything up.
