seat belts
i was just wondering if shoulder harness seat belts were an option in 67-72's because there are the holes for them and I was watching an old movie and an old beat up work truck had them in it I think it was a 67 but it didn't show a whole lot of the truck just the cab.

My '69 came with laps only, but I ordered and installed shoulders, using the existing hole you mentioned.

There was an optional shoulder belt, but it was not like a late model vehicle.
Imagine a second seat belt much like your lap belt...but with no retractor. That's what came in these. |

So that hole is for the shoulder belt. I was just looking at that today and wondering if a shoulder would work there. Thanks

I installed some shoulder belts form a junkyard late '80's S10. Cost me $30 plus a few dollars for some grade 8 hardware and it has been the single best upgrade i have done to my truck. Feels much safer. I don't want to knock my teeth out on the steering wheel if i make a stupid error in traffic or some ididt pulls out infront of me.
The passenger side belt and all related compontets bolted in without modification. On the driver's side i had to drill one new hole in the floor, being that the retractor woudln't fit due to the factory gas tank. The buckles even had enough length to come through the floor. I left in the factory middle lap belt.

Hmm, I scoped out the belts in the junkyard a couple weeks ago. Nothing looked like it would work. I saw S-10 Blazers but I think the retractor was in the b pillar. I'll have to take another look for an S-10 pickup.

Here in the northeast it's difficult to find anything pre "90" in the junkyard. "80"s vehicles are few and far between

The belts were the same from '83?-'93 on the S10s. I got mine out of a standard cab pickup, i think an extended cab or Blazer might be a little different.
