Question Patch or replace??

My passenger front fender has some rust at the bottom nearest to the door, but the rest of the fender is fine. I wanna know if you guys reccomend buying a lower patch panel and cutting/welding it in, or just buying an entire new fender. I've taken a couple welding classes and consider myself quite proficient at simple welding, but by no means a professional. Have any of you done this? Is it an easy process, or am I just going to get myself in trouble? Thanks again for the help...

repop fenders are pretty cheap these days, and the quality can be good, but if you have access to a welder and wanna spend the time, I'd recommend saving the fender.

If you post a pic, we can suggest what you'll have to do to fix it..
