Another newbie on the board
Hello all,
I just bought a '72 blue/white LWB Cheyenne Super in TX and shipped to Italy where I live. I am retired Air Force (E-8) and work as an Army civilian contractor at Aviano Air Base. I wanted a GMC as I am a Pontiac guy but the Chevy was a good deal. |

It came from Arkansas. Has a clean interior w/original headliner and visors and door panels. Needs an A/C clutch. Everything works. Has 112,000 miles. I paid $7,000.

That is a twin to the truck that I am picking up tommorrow, except mine is a C10 Custom deluxe, but has tach dash and all the options yours does except the super inside wood trim. I do have the outside wood moulding.
Mine has rust though, and someone took the A/C goodies off of the engine

That is a sweet looking truck, I bet you don't want to hear us complain about the fuel prices state side huh?
Welcome to the boards from Central Ohio, what part of the states do you refer to as "back home"? I gotta say, i love your screen name...I remember more than one "crusty Seargents" that I had worked for. What exactly do you do now that you are on the good paying side of the military? |

I shipped it out of Houston in a 40' container along with a 77 Ranchero Esquire. We acutually shipped six cars to Italy. I loaded and secured the cars. Costs about $2,500 per container from Houston to Venice. A little more than most west coast ports in Europe since Venice is through the Gibraltor/Med run and then up the Adriactic. I am only 45 minutes from the port. Plus we load tons of parts and other goodies in the container for ourselves and other guys. I run a little side business with American parts and cars. You would be amazed at what is around here. Just don't see them.
I work for the Army doing Communications work at the Army post in Vicenza and Aviano too. Have an Italian wife and own a house here. Country has changed though, becoming more Americanized every day. I have lived in Italy for 20 years. Did 22.5 in the AF and 19 was in Italy... Gas is about $5.00 a gallon here so nobody better complain there. I do have NATO coupons since I work on the base and pay about $1.75 a gallon but am limited (rationed) to just over 100 gallons a month...My pontiacs pretty much take take care of that amount... |
