Need help identifying
Hey all.I am trying to find some info on this truck. On the title it says Defense Property Disposal Office,Crane Naval Weapons Support Center....This was purhased in 78 from them.
It is a 67 swb stepside with some weird options. Radio delete,Ac,firebox,(which is now gone),fire extinguisher, and everything has its own lable. It also has small back window and is automatic 6 cyl.I am trying to figure out gear ratio currently. Its also painted a really dark grey. Not silver like on the tag...Does anyone know if the navy bought trucks and converted them,or if the general added this stuff. I cant find anyone else who has anything like this. |

Welcome to the board from Columbus...what part of Ohio are you in?
As for your truck, if it is listed on the sticker, then that's straight from GM. The radio delete is moch more common than you think, especially on the earlier ones in this generation. If you were to look, your sticker probably says COPO on it some place, which means it has non-regular production options...like what ever a fire box would be on that.. |

Rare is a hard word to nail sometimes.
Granted, you are not likely to find one, at least no soon, but in reality, how many trucks do you think the Navy bought? Go ahead and count in the Air Force, they had a bunch too. I would say that it mostly gives the truck an interesting history. |
