Quick Question

Ok guys here it goes...

On my truck, the crank pulley is out of line. The alternator and water pump are perfect, but the crank pulley extends out about 1/4" too far.

Is it possible that the pulley is on backwards and makes it stick out too far?

Or might I have the wrong pulley? Or the wrong harmonic balancer?

BTW: the engine was rebuilt, and put back together like this and driven like this before it was wrecked. But I want it fixed, while its easy to get to.

the harmonic balancer may not have bottomed out against the lower timing gear and may need more zapping with the impact gun,or i ve seen it happen a few times where people have tapped on the lower gear inbetween crank and the back of the gear because the gear was kinda siezed on from years of service and actually marred the surface of the crankshaft thus not allowing the lower timing gear to bottom out against the crankshaft an leaving the balancer sticking out further than its supposed to.If the crank is marred where the timing gear slides on,you should be able to use emerycloth or a file to remove the burred surface on the crankshaft.HOPE THIS HELPS
