Gas/Fuel Tank
I am restoring a 1949 GMC Pickup and I am wondering what gas/fuel tanks other in the forum have used in their projects. If you can share pictures of your project that would go even further for me. Many thanks in advance.

Re: Gas/Fuel Tank
Might look at a 69 Mustang, or a early Blazer, I have seen those used

Re: Gas/Fuel Tank
I found a guy parting out his 71 Mustang Fastback project he has no desire to complete and he sold me his gas tank for $30. The unit is solid and from the measurements of tanks I can find it matches a 1970 Mustang tank. Now all I need to do is figure out how to hang the unit. Anyone have any pictures of how they hung a Mustang tank in their project?

Re: Gas/Fuel Tank
"Restoring" or rebuilding? To me restoring means 100% box stock just the way that it came from the factory. Rebuilding on the other hand can take on a variety of changes.
I've got a 79 Blazer tank out here that is 16 or 17 gallons that is going under my 48 when it goes back together. 29" x 29" at the outside of the seam lip by 11-1/2 deep to the top of the hoses. I'm not sure how I'm going to run the filler neck right now but I'd rather not have it in the bed again. |

Re: Gas/Fuel Tank
I am rebuilding my truck as it will look stock from outside, but under the hood there is a 350LS1, 700r4, Mustang II IFS, Ford 9" Rear End, etc... I now need to build a mount for my tank to fit under the frame and I too am unsure as to where the filler neck will go right now, but I agree with you I'd rather not have it in the bed.
