Blazer buying help..
Hope to pick this thing up this weekend if everything goes right! Pretty excited I've always wanted one. What do you guys think? I know she a lil rusty... Not very familiar with these but are the 2WD/4WD frames the same?

The 2WD and 4WD frames are different.
That's a lot of rust. Look especially at the windshield header and the torsion boxes. I think you might find that might need a lot of sheet metal. |

That does look like a lot of rust to deal with from those pictures. I thought the one I purchased last year looked fairly solid when I got it but once I started stripping it down it needed a lot more attention than I expected. If the price is right and you have the skills and time to get it back into shape go for it. In my experience though you usually come out ahead in terms of both money and time spent by paying a little more for a solid start.

Check to make sure if it is a real 2wd or not with the vin number or check the rear suspension. 2wd came with coil spring rear.

It comes with a 68 front clip of all new sheet metal, rust free doors and a salvaged windshield frame. The front floor pan is full Fred flintsone. It has a leaf spring rear like I said the guy told me he just drilled the 4wd frame to bolt up the 2wd crossmember...maybe I should stay away?

If the price is right and you have the skills and patience, you might go for it.
But I agree with stangtjk that it's usually a better idea to start with the best sheet metal you can afford. |

With that much work the question I'd ask is do you just want a blazer to drive or do you want a big project that will keep your free time occupied for a year or two. If you just want a blazer to drive or you're planning on farming any of the work out I'd look for a better one to start.

Unless you are a body man yourself, I would look for a more solid foundation and pay more up front but less in the end.

that truck has been for sale for years. if I remember correct it was converted to 2wd. lots of rust and other issues. how much did you get it for I remember he wanted a lot. like 4k

 saw it in that price range ($4k) last time I saw it. If real 2wd and a bit cheaper - it might be worth the chase. Save your loot and buy a driver you can fix as you go - that is a better route than a torn down project in your garage for a few years....(IMHO)

If it's $1000 then ok, but anything above it looks like too much of a headache and not worth it.
